What led to the creation of Stand With Main Street?

Will there be a variety of partners or a concentration in one area? In addition to supporting them, we also want to support the United States as a whole. Where are your first partners coming from? Since Stand With Main Street is a nationwide movement, we hope that our partners will come from all over the country with an emphasis on rural areas that most need us. Are there plans to expand to other cities in the future? Both of our founding cities have active Main Street programs that have been profoundly affected by the pandemic and its effects on our communities; why was it important to start with these two cities?

Or just start a discussion with a business owner. This coming weekend, go to a farmers market. Give your favorite neighborhood store a positive review. Each action matters, and when taken as a whole, these deeds produce a positive chain reaction. Attend a town hall gathering. So, how can you participate? And because every town has its own rhythm – some bustling with tourism, others quietly nurturing homegrown talent – the support adapts accordingly.

The organization assists communities in identifying, recording, and expanding upon these strategic milestones, which are more than just feel-good tales. Revitalization isn’t just about aesthetics or foot traffic- it’s about who gets to participate, who benefits, and who leads. A mural that sparks conversation on a blank wall. What does this group want from Governor Whitmer and the state legislature?

While the majority of big-box retailers are considered necessary enterprises and can continue to operate, Michigan is compelling small businesses to make difficult choices that jeopardize their survival. We just want Michigan to become more accessible so that small businesses can resume their primary responsibilities, which include providing for their communities, feeding families, and paying bills. Sometimes it feels like they’re starting from scratch with individual Main Street programs, which are frequently run by enthusiastic volunteers or small staff teams.

The initiative’s ability to close the gap between local action and national insight is one of its most notable features. By selecting practical tactics, data-driven frameworks, and peer-reviewed playbooks, Stand With Main Street helps communities steer clear of typical pitfalls and build on successful outcomes. The organization offers practical and forward-thinking advice on everything from starting a local marketing campaign to designing inclusive public spaces to managing post-pandemic recovery.
